March 2026: Benelux Meeting on Systems and Control (Lommel, Belgium)

A fantastic atmosphere at the Benelux Meeting 2026, showcasing top-tier research in systems and control. The plenary talks have been truly outstanding—a vivid reminder of how vibrant and dynamic the Benelux control community is. A few highlights from the conference:

  • Amir Mehrnoosh presented his work “Two-point Random Gradient-free Methods for Model-free Feedback Optimization;” Vijayand Digge shared his work on online reinforcement learning; and Arthur Mélot presented his recent results on fleet rebalancing optimization.

  • We presented the very first SOCN Best PhD Thesis Award—congratulations to Brecht Evens!

  • This edition of the Benelux Meeting set a new attendance record, with over 300 participants! It has been both fun (and a lot of work!) to be part of the organizing committee. Many thanks to Raphaël Jungers and Julien Hendrickx for co-organizing it with me!

December 2025: IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Wonderful moments from CDC 2026 in Rio de Janeiro—what an incredible setting for a conference! We presented our work “The Discrete-Time Internal Model Principle of Time-Varying Optimization: Limitations and Algorithm Design,” sparking great discussions and insightful feedback. Beyond the science, Rio was absolutely fantastic—an amazing city that made the whole experience even more memorable!

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Division of Control Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the vibrant community at Digital Futures. It’s been a truly enriching experience—from engaging discussions and new connections to enjoying the beautiful spring weather in Stockholm.
