Overview
From energy and transportation systems to complex biological networks, socio-physical networks are central in many modern societies and play a vital role in their sustainable development. In many control problems for socio-physical networks, it is necessary to control physical systems to optimal setpoints and simultaneously update these setpoints during runtime by taking into account several optimality requirements, such as system efficiency, user satisfaction, and minimality of the control effort. To achieve these objectives, powerful optimization algorithms are being adapted to operate as feedback controllers for physical systems demonstrating tremendous potential in several applications. Motivated by these research efforts, this workshop will bring together experts in this area to present the state-of-the-art and discuss future research directions.
